ECONOMIC RESPONSIBILITY
PERMANENT STAFF EMPLOYMENT AND RECRUITMENTJULNIC Tours creates new employment opportunities through expansion. Preference is given to the employment of local (Provincial Kwa-Zulu Natal based) previously disadvantaged people.
All appointments are based on a combination of the criteria of the Government’s Employment Equity Plan, suitable qualifications, relevant skills and required experience.
Above minimum rate salaries are paid, based on industry benchmarks.
Members of staff are assisted to personally grow, by assisting to acquire skills and guiding qualifications.
VEHICLE INFRASTRUCTURE
Demand for types of vehicles required is monitored continuously and the fleet of vehicles is adjusted accordingly, ensuring more economical vehicles are used as far as possible.
Majority of 1 & 2 pax transfers and tours are done in Sedan vehicles which are more fuel efficient. Microbus fleet has been replaced by Diesel operated vehicles which are more fuel efficient.
Vehicles are regularly serviced by official reliable local agents only, minimizing risk for possible downtime due to breakages. Spares (eg tyres etc) are bought and fitted at reliable local agents only.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Continuous development of new products is done in consultation with staff and free-lance guides.
Preference is given to involve local communities and enterprises (eg Zamimpilo, Heritage Market, Shakaland & Phansi Museum).
TRANSFER AND TOURING PRACTICES
All International tourists are made aware of the different cultures, the economic benefits to the region of supporting local enterprises and the correct way of cultural interaction (with respect).
Specialist guides are used as far as possible to increase the quality of experience and minimize the effect on the environment. (eg. Battlefields done by Battlefields guide; cultural done by guide understanding the culture; wildlife done by knowledgeable guide to ensure the experience is in the least intrusive way).
Tours are tailor-made to ensure maximum quality of experience based on individual interests. Tourists are encouraged to re-visit different areas of the province. Tourists are made aware of local conditions (eg safety, not giving money to beggars/street kids, but rather to recognized agencies etc). |
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
JULNIC Tours is partnering with Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville Tennessee, who supports the local Sihawukelwe Lauren’s Children’s Home in Kwamashu, as their official South African Travel provider.
Tour products are currently developed, aimed at the US International market, with the primary aim of donating a percentage of sales to the needs of the orphanage. A secondary aim is to include the orphanage as part of the visit to South Africa, so as to expose visitors first hand to the hardships and joys of this local community. In this way we strive to expose a different and new international market to the beauty of a very diverse South Africa, with the economic benefits reaching much wider than solely the local economy.
